Description from the seller
ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD EXISTS - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format artwork, Medsan imagines the Iron Giant — the giant, benevolent robot from Brad Bird's cult film — asleep and overgrown by vegetation, watching over a Japanese valley. Covered in moss and trees, the mechanical colossus has blended into the landscape: its open hand lets a cascade flow, a sanctuary and a torii nestle on its shoulder, and a village of terraced rice fields stretches at its feet under a sunset sky. The cartouche bears the signature “メドサン” (Medsan).
The visual power of the composition lies in its warm pictorial treatment, lit by the golden light of twilight, where verdant impasto, the reflections on the water, and the softness of the sky confer a contemplative serenity to the scene. The steel giant, its large eyes softly glowing, seems to have slept for centuries at the heart of a nature that has gently re-taken it.
The work’s impact rests on its melancholic poetry, faithful to the film’s spirit: the machine designed for war that chooses gentleness, becoming a protective hillside, forgotten technology reconciled with nature and the sacred. Medsan celebrates the return of the artificial to the organic — “you are what you choose to be” — in an ecologically minded fable full of tenderness.
A poetic, contemplative, and spectacular piece, ideal for adding a soft, magical, and decidedly original touch to a collector’s interior — a loves at first sight for animation enthusiasts as well as dreamlike landscapes.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a workshop of artists brought together around a living and plural contemporary creation. Set up like a true artistic production space, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. By his side, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo follows a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, realized, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
