La ragazza al mare, an oil on canvas by Aldo Carpi (1886-1973) dating from 1959, Italian, original edition from the 1950s, hand-signed and in good condition, sold with frame and framed size 85 × 65 cm.

Aldo Carpi (Milan, 1886 - 1973). In 1906 he studied at the Brera Academy, pupil of Tallone, classmate of Funi, Gola and Carrà. In 1912, after debut at the Permanent and at Brera’s exhibitions, he participated in the Venice Biennale. In 1920 he participated, though not actively, among the ranks of the Novecento group and in 1927 he carried out the work for the stained glass windows of Milan Cathedral. He won numerous awards. With the outbreak of war he was taken prisoner in concentration camps, from which he continued to draw. Upon his return he became director of the Brera Academy and received further important cultural merits and recognitions.
