Photographer Ursula van de Bunte created for the exhibition Joan Derk: Controversial I Theatrical I Explosive a photo series about the moving life of Joan Derk. She combined her love of historical portraits with modern elements, giving Joan Derk and his contemporaries a contemporary face. "The Uprising" tells the story of the uprising of the Patriots.
“Capellen must be great, the Drosten services must die.” This is what the Patriots and peasants cried because they were oppressed by the Drosten, who governed a certain area.
Joan Derk collected complaints as evidence and submitted a petition to abolish this 'Overijssel slavery'. He wanted a peaceful uprising.
Ursula pursues quality and works with the latest Hasselblad. The studio is housed in a monumental building in the Hanseatic city of Kampen. She exhibits her work in museums, galleries and on art fairs.
