Jean Carzou (1907-2000) — "Bateaux à quai"
Original color lithograph
Jean Carzou (1907-2000), born Karnik Zouloumian, French painter, engraver, and designer of Armenian origin. A major figure of the post-war Paris School alongside Bernard Buffet, Yves Brayer, and Jansem, he was elected to the Académie des Beaux-Arts and awarded the Legion of Honor. Scenes of harbors and boats are among the most emblematic and sought-after subjects of his engraved work.

Composition: 1955 (date inscribed on the plate)
Signature: Signed and dated "Carzou 58" in pencil at the bottom right (printing/validation date of the impression)
Numbering: 74/300, numbered in pencil at the bottom left.
