David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and perception of the image in the urban space. He first made his name with a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary reinterpretation of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop-art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction composed of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From a distance, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it unveils a richness of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject depicted. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. Substantial work is carried out on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner.
Edition & Manufacture
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting system. Printing on bright white vinyl, laminated between two aluminum plates, with a soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Background
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a writer-artist musical practice including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photography book and 5 self-produced CDs. As a singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
