David Law
Photographic Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made himself known through a series dedicated to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive, vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic built from thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it unveils a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject depicted. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. In-depth work is carried out on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created originally and independently.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Printing on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with UV- and moisture-resistant flexible laminating, ensuring excellent durability, great long-term resistance, color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in around twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photography book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
