Description from the seller

Oil painting of the Scheveningen pier

Dimensions: 40 cm x 50 cm
Dimensions with frame: 46 cm x 56 cm

This painting was created by the Dutch artist Johan (Joop) Kropff (1892–1979). Kropff studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and developed into an important representative of the Nieuwe Haagse School. His work is characterized by an atmospheric, impressionistic painting style with great attention to light and color.

Kropff was a member of Pulchri Studio in The Hague and enjoyed recognition even during his lifetime. In 1932 Queen Wilhelmina purchased one of his paintings, confirming his reputation as a leading artist.

Viewing is of course possible. In addition, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we work with restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, please let us know.
