Description from the seller
Excellent and representative bronze sculpture by the master of informalist art Antoni Tàpies (1923-2012), titled "Nus" (Nudo) and created in the year 2000 by the prestigious foundry Foneria Morral. This stand-alone piece without a plinth intimately and tactilely concentrates the rich material symbolism of Tàpies. It highlights the modeled volume that simulates the organic texture of a bundle or knot of sacking, crossed by grooves and direct incisions in the metal. On the opposite side, the sunken relief of the cross is evident, one of the artist’s identity marks and most emblematic visual signatures. The piece bears in the bronze itself Tàpies’s signature engraved on a plate, as well as the casting year "2000". It is kept in excellent condition, with a flawless brown-gold patina and very defined details. Catalog Raisonné: Registered in the sculpture catalog of the Fundació Antoni Tàpies (Registration No. / workshop work #7318).
