Leon Adriaans, Nachtstraat, 1998, oil on canvas, 25 × 18 cm, original, abstract, hand-signed, Netherlands, in good condition.
Description from the seller
Leon Adriaans (1944-2004) is for many people the typically Brabantian artist/farmer who, from a self-chosen isolation, apart from the established art world, painted feed bags, oilcloth and rough boards.
Leon Adriaans (1944-2006)
Nachtstraat
25 x 18 cm
Good condition
Adriaans is, on the one hand, completely Brabantian in his themes of farm life, his draught horses and his pigeons. On the other hand, this is merely the starting point for the artist for whom painting was a matter of life and death. Existential and universal themes were what truly mattered to him: the lifeblood itself, as he wrote, the unexplored areas of the soul, the quest for insight. This search manifested itself in riotously colorful, direct paintings with maximum immediacy about euphoria, consolation and forgiveness, about the creative fire and the painter’s hell.
Viewing of the lot is always possible. All contact information can be found on our own website. Art Dumay has an in-house framing shop with almost 100 years of experience. If you are interested, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you.
