An emigrant and exile in East Berlin (nicknamed "the Berliner of Barcelona"), this accomplished student of the German Academy of Arts possessed a unique visual language that melancholically expresses uprootedness and otherness. This is a sample of the artist's magnificent work, which we celebrate with emotion. She received the Goethe Prize in 1983 and the Karl Schmidt-Rottluff Art Prize in Chemnitz in 2023.
