Description from the seller
Gibson S1
I bought it used in 1981 during a vacation in the USA.
Gibson produced the S1 between 1974 and 1980.
Serial number 014639. This model was manufactured between 1975 and 1978.
Body and neck in Maple, fingerboard in Rosewood (Indian Rosewood).
Slim 'C' neck bolted to the body.
Low action (extremely fast).
22 frets.
Recent luthier setups.
All parts and components are original, except the pickguard screws (recently replaced).
2 knobs for volume and tone controls.
4-position knob that combines the 3 single-coil pickups with unique timbres, including Humbucking sound (*).
Two-position switch (lead switch):
1 – at rest (central) allowing the various combinations
of pickups
2 – activates only the bridge pickup for riffs or solos
(*) Pickup combinations:
1) neck and middle
2) middle and bridge
3) all three together
4) neck and bridge out of phase
In excellent condition, considering its 47/50 years of age.
Original Schaller hardware that holds perfect intonation.
D’Addario set .010 – .046.
It has a small indentation on the tip of the headstock and inevitable signs of age and use.
With the neck it has and the low action it’s a pleasure to play, furthermore, thanks to its age, the pickups are slightly demagnetized (degaussed) giving soft and warm tones, with greater sustain. It is very sensitive to touch dynamics and has an exceptional dynamic response (my preference is for picks at least 2mm thick, preferably wood, for a fuller sound).
