When creating the series “Daily Emotional Journal - Chronicle of Flavors,” I aimed to invite the viewer to experience art in a way that goes beyond the image itself. I have always been fascinated that memories build not only colors and shapes, but also scents. It is these that can, in a single moment, evoke emotions, halt a fleeting moment, or transport us to a specific place.

Granat is one of three works belonging to an author’s, limited collection of scent-infused fruit paintings. Each piece depicts a different fruit and has been complemented by a corresponding fragrance composition made exclusively from natural oils. Together they form a series that tells a story through color, form, and aroma, encouraging a more conscious way of experiencing daily life.

I chose Granat not by chance. For centuries it has symbolized abundance, life, energy, rebirth, and inner strength. I wanted these values to be present not only in the composition itself but also in the atmosphere the painting brings into the interior.

In the back of the frame I placed a magnetically mounted ceramic scent disk, handmade from gypsum cast. Before shipping, it is saturated with an original composition with the aroma of a juicy pomegranate. The scent releases gradually for about 2 weeks, depending on temperature, humidity, and air circulation. After that time the disk can be easily removed and re-saturated with a favorite essential oil or your own fragrance blend, allowing the artwork to gradually acquire a completely new character.

I do not treat scent as an add-on. It is an integral element of the work, another layer of reception that complements the image and makes the experience of engaging with art more personal. I wanted to create a piece that remains in memory not only for what is seen but also for what can be felt.

I prepare each copy personally, from the finishing of the painting, through the assembly of the ceramic disk, to its first saturation with an original fragrance composition. This ensures that every collector receives a complete, ready-to-exhibit work.

Minimalist composition and timeless color palette make the painting fit perfectly in both modern and more classical interiors. It looks great in the kitchen, where the fruity aroma emphasizes a sense of freshness and lightness, and it will just as well serve as a striking decorative accent in the living room, but also in an office, hallway, bedroom, or elegant commercial spaces. It is not merely wall decoration; it subtly influences the atmosphere of the space, bringing a sense of harmony and freshness.

I believe contemporary art can engage more than one sense. It can set a mood, evoke emotions, and leave memories behind.

Granat is an attempt to merge these worlds, image and scent, into one cohesive form.

I hope that for its future owner it becomes not only a work of art but also a daily ritual that pleases both the eyes and the sense of smell.
