Le Yack - The Colossus of Maroussi - hand-signed

Santorin, midday. Lime-washed cubes, a blue dome crowned with a cross, cascading stairs, and the caldera a deep ink blue that fills the right half of the canvas. On a terrace, a brunette woman with long curly hair, in a white linen shirt-dress, open at the front, her hand resting on the low wall, gazes to the open sea. To her right, an orange cat sitting on the wall contemplates the sea with the same gravity; to her left, a black cat leaps, frozen in mid-flight above the roofs — apparition, omen, or simple animal grace. Semiotically, the canvas plays out the duel of felines: the orange one watching, motionless, and the black one crossing, elusive; the woman stands between the two, between contemplation and departure. The palette revives the anchors of the corpus — limestone white, saturated blue, cobalt of the dome — in a smooth, almost surreal finish, where the bluish shadow of the wall provides the only note of freshness.

Le Yack, rising French pop and street art artist. Alexandre Pelletier, known as Le Yack, was born in 1972 in Tours. During his studies, he joined the École Supérieure d'Art et de Design (ESAD) in Orléans. He is a creative director in publishing and on the web. Instagram @leyack45.
