This is one of the 'G series' of landscapes in oil on canvas by the film maker and artist Derek Jarman (1942-1994). These were views of the sea by Prospect Cottage in Dungeness, now owned by the National Trust.

Provenance: The work is signed and dedicated to me, Paul Reynolds. I was one of the two protagonists of his film The Angelic Conversation (1985), was Pasqualone in Caravaggio (1986) and the Archaeologist in The Last of England (1987). The work will appear in the Catalogue Raisonné being compiled by Amanda Wilkinson (London).
