Onoto Ink Pencil stylograph with a red hard rubber barrel and gold‑filled overlay, mid‑20th‑century United Kingdom origin, 11.50 cm long closed, F nib, eyedropper filling, in excellent condition with a small dent on the cap.
Description from the seller
1920ca Onoto "Ink Pencil" Stylograph Pen with red hard rubber, Eyedropper Filler, Stylographic Tip
Onoto Ink Pencil refers to a historic writing instrument introduced in the early decades of the twentieth century by the famous British house Thomas De La Rue & Company.
Although the name includes the word "pencil", it is not a graphite pencil like the one in the photo, but a stylograph pen (also known as a stylograph or stylographic pen).
The mechanical peculiarity and operation of this collector's item include:The barrel and the filling: Externally it resembles a classic fountain pen in ebonite or resin.
It used Onoto's iconic plunger filler system, which created a vacuum to draw liquid ink directly into the tank.
The tip (Stylus): Instead of the classic gold nib, the end has a small metal tube with a thin gold or platinum wire inside mounted on a tiny spring.
As he wrote: When the tip touched the paper, the pressure made the thread retreat, opening the valve and letting the ink flow evenly, simulating the precise and constant stroke of a pencil but with the permanence of the ink.
the Onoto Ink Pencil is to all intents and purposes a liquid ink pen designed for those looking for a fine, constant graphic stroke without line variations.
Operative condition: I haven't fill it.
Aesthetically conditions: excellent, flawless! (only a small dent on the top of the cap)
Material: red hard rubber with gold filled overlay.
Length closed: 11.50 cm
Barrel’s length:10.40cm
Cap’s length: 5.00cm
Length posted: 15.00 cm
Writings: ONOTO on the barrel overlay
Filling system:eyedropper.
