Very beautiful 19th-century scrimshaw replica, inspired by historical pieces hand-engraved by sailors during great sea expeditions! The engraved scenes often depict whaling hunts, or marine animals encountered during these expeditions! Here it features scenes of whaling, inscriptions, and marine animals in their natural setting; the engraved texts are: Taken from dead walrus Oct. 17, 1841 - 1st Mate T. BOWERS - The Wahler Prince, the engraved drawings are: the three-masted whaler, a boat in which the rowers and the whaler are ready to hurl their harpoon, a few icebergs and a whale, the American flag, ropes, 2 walruses surrounding a text! The total length is 57.5 cm, the weight is 2.100 kg.

Très belle réplique de scrimshaw du 19ème, inspirée de pièces historiques gravées à la main par les marins lors de grandes expéditions en mer ! Les scènes gravées représentent souvent des chasses à la baleine, ou dse animaux marins croisés lors de ces expéditions ! Ici il s'agit des scènes de chasse à la baleine, de textes, et d'animaux marins dans leur décor naturel;  les textes gravés sont: Taken from dead walrus oct.17.1841- 1St Mate T. BOWERS- The Wahler Prince, les dessins gravés sont : le baleinier trois mats, une barque dans laquelle sont les rameurs et le chasseur de baleine prêt à lancer son harpon, quelques icebergs et baleine, le drapeau Américain, des cordages, 2 morses entourant un texte!
