WATERMAN EDSON EMERALD GREEN FOUNTAIN PEN (FRANCE):
We present to auction what is unanimously considered the pinnacle and the modern “Holy Grail” of Waterman manufacturing: the Edson model. Named in honor of the company founder (Lewis Edson Waterman), this fountain pen was conceived to be the pinnacle of luxury, design, and writing engineering.
It is a giant (oversize) instrument, with a staggering presence in the hand thanks to its precise measurements of 15.1 cm in length (closed) and an imposing thickness of 1.5 cm at its massive cap.
This unit comes in the spectacular Emerald Green finish. The body is crafted in a beautiful deep green resin, slightly translucent, that magical way catches the light, topped off at the end by three gold studs or rivets embedded. The superb cap, finished with an elegant dome, features a very high-quality gold plating with a sophisticated contrast between the satin finish of the metal and the polished shine of the articulated clip.
The heart of the Edson is its revolutionary nib. Forged in solid 18-karat gold (18K - 750), it presents an aerodynamic and wraparound design that embraces the grip section. This design is not only aesthetically unsurpassable, but it was designed by Waterman to prevent ink leaks even with pressure changes during airplane flights.
Condition (Expert Review)
Prospective bidders are urged to carefully study the photo gallery. The pen is in magnificent aesthetic condition and preservation:
Resin and Cap: The emerald green resin is flawless, with no cracks or deep scratches. The massive gold cap retains all its glory, with no plating losses or dents. Only minuscule micro-scratches from light contact are evident.
Nib: Extraordinary, in perfect condition with the nibs well aligned.
Mechanics: Cap closure is firm thanks to its complex internal spring mechanism. (Note: Supplied without original case).
Shipping
The item will be carefully protected and securely packed, with highly insured shipping and international tracking number.
An absolutely exceptional opportunity to add to your collection one of the most coveted, beautiful, and technologically advanced fountain pens of the 20th century! Best of luck to all bidders!
