Large carafe/sculpture in artistic glass with a silver-plated metal base – Italy, 1960s–1970s

Elegant and important decorative carafe in authentic artistic glass, made in Italy in the 1960s–1970s by a master glassmaker of high experience, expression of the best Murano tradition of the period.

The work stands out for the exceptional quality of the workmanship. The body, hand-blown in crystal-clear glass of extraordinary delicacy, features a refined optical twisted work (Optic Twist), obtained by twisting the still-glowing glass, a technique that requires considerable precision and high craftsmanship.

The sinuous handle applied in cobalt blue glass, perfectly integrated into the structure, the slender neck, and the gracefully shaped spout give the whole a strong sculptural presence and an elegance typical of the finest Murano productions of the period.

A particular highlight is the original metal base with thick silver plating, finely worked and finished on the underside with its original blue velvet lining, a detail reserved for high-quality productions and intended to protect the surfaces on which it rests.

The object still bears the original label “Made in Murano – Italy” and the label of the historic silverware and jewelry company VIBEC of Milan, a prestigious retailer specializing in luxury articles, an element that testifies to a marketing through a dedicated shop for high-quality objects.

The condition is exceptional, practically like new. The glass is perfectly clear and brilliant, free of opacifications, a factor that reasonably suggests the carafe has never been used and has been kept solely as an exhibition piece. It has no chips, cracks, restorations or other defects. The base with silver plating is also in excellent condition, with no missing parts, while the blue velvet lining on the underside is perfectly preserved.

For craftsmanship, elegance of design, refinement of finishes, and the select materials used, this example represents a prestigious testimony to Murano glassmaking of the 1960s–1970s, intended for a high-end clientele.
