"Toro" – Sculpture by Jesús Castelló.
Impressive and exclusive sculpture belonging to the famous series "Toros" by the renowned Valencian sculptor Jesús Castelló (Premio Senyera de Escultura 1983).
This piece represents the ultimate expression of the artist's lifelong passion for bullfighting and the animal's anatomy, a passion he cultivated since childhood by sneaking into bullrings with his brother, as it was the only way to admire its majesty up close.
For the gestation of this series, Castelló personally volunteered at the Plaza de Toros of Valencia, taking direct naturalistic sketches that culminated in this bold organic work.
Carved in marble, the sculpture offers a superb contrast of textures: one side presents a flawless polished mirror, while the opposite flank preserves the rawness and strength of stone worked with a chisel.
As a pinnacle element of authenticity, the work incorporates the natural horns of one of the bulls observed by the artist in the Valencian arena, assembled with precision.
Additionally, the sculpture is designed with a dynamic system that allows it to rotate on its wooden base, offering multiple viewing perspectives.
