Camille Hilaire (1916-2004) — "Nu au fauteuil" — Original lithograph, mixed media (gouache and colored pencils on paper)
Description :
Camille Hilaire (Metz, 1916 – Fourges, 2004), French painter, lithographer and upholsterer, a figure of French post-Cubism, exhibited at the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris, at the Musée de Strasbourg and in numerous international collections.
Subject: a seated female nude in an armchair, treated in the artist's characteristic palette (greens, blues, violets, yellows), on an architecturally structured background with patterns of overlapped circles inspired by Art Nouveau. The subject and composition are related to "Nu au fauteuil", a theme the artist developed several times in the 1970s-1980s, both in original gouache and in lithography.
Signed "Hilaire" at the lower right.
Condition: excellent state of preservation, no visible defects (no stains, tears, creases, discoloration or foxing).
