Born in 1958 in Ben Tre, a village authentic at the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work is distinguished by a singular fusion of Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a young age, he was fascinated by the rural architecture of his surroundings, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, the shadows cast by water palms — elements that would become the foundation of his visual language.

Having always lived in his native region, Nguyen Robert over decades developed a deeply contemporary, modern, and distinctly architectural style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while preserving a poetic sensibility rooted in Vietnamese culture.

His Franco-Vietnamese heritage enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and bold contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul infuses softness, spirituality, and fluidity into his works. The result is a pictorial universe where modernity meets the timeless, where geometry dialogues with light, creating paintings of great visual impact.

Renowned for his ability to transform everyday life into abstract landscapes, Nguyen Robert is today regarded as one of the distinctive voices of the Delta’s contemporary painting.
