Description from the seller

Excellent and representative original graphic work by Gerardo Rueda (Madrid, 1926 – 1996), one of the foremost exponents of abstract art in Spain, a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and co-founder of the Museo de Arte Abstracto Español in Cuenca.

This screenprint belongs to his last and most mature creative phase (1994). The piece displays the unmistakable visual language of the artist, structured through the superposition of pure chromatic planes, bold geometric shapes, and a suggestive organic-inspired background that evokes his famous compositions and three-dimensional collages.

Technical Details and Characteristics:

Artist: Gerardo Rueda Salaberry (1926–1996)
Composition on green background, 1994.
Screenprint on paper.
Editioned as 123/500.
Edition tied to the cultural project TELOS/FUNDESCO

Dimensions:
Sheet: 48 cm x 34.5 cm
Framed: 59 cm + 45 cm

Condition: Very good. Conserved in protective white mat that enhances the work visually (see close-up images).

Signature: Institutional edition, no visible handwritten signature (a usual characteristic in this type of print runs from that era).

EDITORIAL CONTEXT AND MARKET REFERENCES
The work benefits from strong documentary, institutional, and market support in the art market:

Edition Context: Published in 1994 by FUNDESCO (Foundation for the Development of the Social Function of Communications) in collaboration with the prestigious cultural and technological magazine TELOS (No. 37, monograph "The Expression of Abstract Art"), a project for which Gerardo Rueda created a series of exclusive graphic works.

Reference in Specialized Galleries: This same graphic composition is documented and publicly marketed in the Spanish commercial circuit under the historical title of "Composition on green background," serving as a clear element of contrast and identification (reference available at El Marco Verde).

International Auction History: We brothers of this same, coveted limited edition of 500 units form part of the international fine art auction circuit, having been cataloged and defended by major international auction houses (lot record available on the global Invaluable platform).

A magnificent opportunity to acquire a piece with traceable historical, institutional, and market background, ideal for rigorous collectors of the Cuenca School and late 20th-century Spanish abstract art.

Exhibitions (and participation in competitions)
1953: First solo exhibition at Sala Abril in Madrid.

1953: Participation in the II Hispano-American Art Biennial.

1957: Exhibition at the Galerie de Roue in Paris.

1960: Representation of Spain at the XXX Venice Biennale.

1963: Participation in the Tokyo Biennale.

1991: Participation in the exhibition The Prado Museum seen by twelve contemporary artists (organized by the Amigos del Museo del Prado Foundation).
