Nino Tirinnanzi (1923-2002) - Fanciullo

I propose at auction a splendid, intimate, and delicate profile portrait in male form of Master Nino Tirinnanzi (Greve in Chianti 1917 – Florence 2002), realized with a mixed technique of watercolor and charcoal on laid cardboard, datable to the late 1970s to early 1980s.

The work, measuring 21.3 x 12.3 cm, fully expresses the artist's extraordinary introspective sensibility. The charcoal drawing defines with precision and vigor the volumes of the face and the softness of the hair, while the light and deft touches of watercolor invest the subject with luminosity and immediacy, capturing a suspended and melancholic expression.

The piece is presented within a solid and important frame in machined fine wood, complemented by an elegant white fabric-covered mat with an inner silver profile, which greatly enhances the artwork and elevates the delicate tones of the cardboard.

The work is manually signed by the author at the bottom right, “Tirinnanzi.”
The drawing does not come with a certificate of authenticity from the artist’s official archive; however, attached to the piece I will provide my personal written declaration of authenticity as an Expert for the Florence Court, together with certification of legitimate provenance from my private collection.

Note about the Artist:
Nino Tirinnanzi has undoubtedly been the most celebrated and gifted pupil of Ottone Rosai, from whom he absorbed the expressive force of the mark and then evolved toward a very personal painting language, made of rarefied and lyrical atmospheres. A regular visitor to the famous Café Giubbe Rosse in Florence, he came into close contact with the major Italian twentieth-century intellectuals, from Eugenio Montale to Alfonso Gatto, up to Pier Paolo Pasolini, who was a great admirer and collector of his painting. His portrait and figurative production represents one of the most poetic peaks of Tuscan art in the postwar period.
