Fountain Pen WAHL-EVERSHARP SKYLINE (USA, 1940s):
We present at auction an absolute icon of 20th-century design: the Wahl-Eversharp Skyline. Designed in the early 1940s by the renowned industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss, its radical tear-drop silhouette, inspired by the aerodynamics of locomotives and airplanes of the era, immediately became the best-selling pen in the United States during that decade.
It is a very comfortable and balanced instrument, with exact measurements of [Introduce length] cm in length (closed) and a thickness at its widest point of [Introduce thickness] cm.
This unit features a body in deep dark celluloid that contrasts wonderfully with the dazzling metal cap. The cap features a pattern of horizontal lines and is made of "Gold Filled" (14k yellow gold-filled with thick plate, sealed 1/10 14K Y.G.F.). At the top of the clip shines the iconic "Double Tick" (brand quality guarantee seal).
It mounts its nib original Eversharp forged in 14-karat solid gold (Made in USA). The filling system is the traditional lever-fill mechanism, so characteristic of the American fountain pen’s golden age.
Condition (Perito Review)
Collectors are asked to study the photo gallery carefully. The pen is in an aesthetic condition exceptional for having more than 80 years of history:
Celluloid and Metal: The body retains a deep shine with no major scratches, cracks or bite marks. The gold-filled cap is in superb condition, with the ridges clearly defined and retaining the gold coating in excellent condition.
Nib: In magnificent condition, clean and with the nib tines well aligned.
Mechanics: The lever clip sits flush with the body. (Note regarding this vintage lever-fill pen: the inner rubber sac may require replacement for daily use by the purchaser, standard for pens of this era. It is delivered without original case).
Shipping
The item will be carefully protected and securely packaged, with insured shipping and an international tracking number.
A new opportunity for collectors of American vintage fountain pens and lovers of Art Deco design!
