As a projectionist and artist, I create Pop-style artworks using original 35mm film stock. I employ a process I call "analog pixel art," where each 35mm cell functions like a pixel, aiming to rediscover light in our increasingly digital and dematerialized world. The "Pixel Project" series—a collaboration between analog and digital mediums—involves a digital pixelation process scaled to 35x19 mm to accommodate actual 35mm cells, thereby paying tribute to both the specific film and the medium itself.
Featured here is the spinning top from the movie *Inception*—an object that has become a symbol of how we perceive reality. Constructed from actual 35mm film cells set against a pixelated background, the artwork prompts us to question our reality in an era where AI-generated images can appear more lifelike than reality itself. Analog film—which holds the raw, undistorted essence of cinema—adopts a digital form to invite reflection on a real world that is nonetheless saturated with algorithms.
