The Nokia 8810 from 1998 is regarded as very rare among vintage mobile phones and is an extremely coveted collector’s item. On collector rarity scales it is often categorized as 2 out of 5 ("Rare"), meaning that globally, in functional original condition, only a few units per month are traded on platforms.
The 8810 was not a mass-produced product. It was an prohibitively expensive status symbol for business customers, with an original price of nearly €1,000 at the time. Accordingly, sales figures were low.

The Nokia 8810 marks a milestone in mobile communications history as it came to market in 1998 as the first true luxury phone. It revolutionized industrial design by being the first mainstream mobile phone to feature a fully integrated internal antenna. The technological revolution: No antenna at all. Before the Nokia 8810 appeared in 1998, external stub antennas were standard on every mobile phone. Internal antenna: Nokia engineers managed to place the antenna entirely inside the case for the first time.
Without the obtrusive antenna, the device was extremely pocket-friendly and fit easily in any pocket.
The Nokia 8810 was deliberately positioned as a status symbol and premium product for the luxury segment.
Codename: Zippo. Chrome look: The highly polished, mirror-like metal surface gave the phone a futuristic appearance.
