Description from the seller
LA BAÑERA BLANCA is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work presents a tropical-inspired interior in which a freestanding bathtub occupies the center of the composition, surrounded by large plants, open arches, and architecture in intense reds, yellows, and blues. The scene conveys a sense of calm, freshness, and retreat, as if it were a private bath opening onto a lush garden or a seaside villa. The small terracotta containers, towels, and wooden mat reinforce the atmosphere of well-being and turn the space into a refuge dedicated to rest.
The composition is organized through clear architectural forms and large chromatic planes. The luminous white of the bathtub contrasts with the deep red of the walls, the turquoise blue of the floor, and the dark greens of the vegetation. This contrast of warm and cool colors adds depth and places the work within a sensibility close to Fauvism, Post-Impressionism, and chromatic Expressionism, where color is not limited to describing space but builds its emotional atmosphere.
The synthetic treatment of the plants, the geometry of the arches, and the decorative character of the interior evoke the visual freedom of Henri Matisse, especially his Mediterranean interiors and his compositions in which architecture and vegetation integrate into a single harmony. Resonances of David Hockney can also be perceived in the spatial clarity, the prominence of modern architecture, and the interest in leisure spaces, water, and private life in sunny settings.
The bathtub functions as the visual and symbolic center of the painting. Its white, almost sculptural presence, introduces a sense of purity and quiet, while the tropical plants and the views through the arches suggest a direct connection between interior and nature. This combination brings the work closer to the Mediterranean bath imaginative world, tropical villas, contemporary interior design, and Moroccan or colonial-inspired architecture.
The white bathtub combines interior painting, architecture, tropical landscape, and decorative design in a composition of strong visual impact. It is particularly appealing to collectors interested in contemporary figurative art, colorful interiors, freestanding bathtubs, tropical décor, Mediterranean architecture, gardens, houseplants, Fauvism, Post-Impressionism, and works with references to Matisse and David Hockney.
