AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Woodcut by Vittorio Matino, Rarity!! 34.5 x 24.5 cm. Printed by Arti Grafiche Torri on Tintoretto paper.

The artist Vittorio Matino, one of the best-known Italian exponents of abstraction, who has made color, understood as pure luminous energy.

His painting beginnings date back to the early 1960s. From expressive, socially themed painting, Matino progressively moves to abstraction, devoting himself to defending this artistic current marginalized by Italian criticism.

His exhibition activity has continued uninterrupted since 1967, with about a hundred solo exhibitions and numerous group shows in Europe—especially in France, where he spends long periods—and in the United States, where, since 2002, he has exhibited regularly in New York.

His works are in museums and private collections, including the Museo del Novecento in Milan, the Intesa Sanpaolo collections, and the Prada Foundation.
