Biography:

Wags, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the trajectory of a polymorphic artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. From a family where art was already present thanks to his father, a draftsman, Wags discovers at a very young age his first passion, musical creation. This passion guides him in his youth, and his early talents lead him to make a bold decision: to invest the money intended to fund his higher education in creating his first album.

Distributed by EMI, the album did not meet the anticipated success, but it marks the beginning of a rich artistic career full of experiments.

Alongside his musical career, Wags enters the advertising world as a copywriter for the emblematic Playboy magazine. For many years, he brings his creativity to the publication by creating and producing the magazine's campaigns.

The turning point in his career comes in 2005 when he becomes a cameraman, exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovers a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founded his own photo agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.

In 2017, Wags makes a radical choice to sell his agency to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who has become a major figure in global street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted artistic creation, Wags stands out with more than 3,000 works sold in galleries and online to date.

Wishing to explore new artistic universes, Wags is none other than Kobalt who signs under this pseudonym in order not to interfere with his usual work.

This contemporary figurative painting draws inspiration from classic realism and a modern glamorous aesthetic. Collectors who appreciate the light of Joaquín Sorolla, the mastery of Anders Zorn, the elegance of John Singer Sargent, as well as the worlds of Richard S. Johnson, Pino Daeni, Jack Vettriano, Fabian Perez and Jeremy Lipking will find in this work an atmosphere and a treatment of light that will feel familiar to them.
