With this vertically formatted piece, Medsan presents Monkey D. Luffy, the straw-hatted hero of One Piece, as a true figure of a Japanese print, between wanted posters blown by the wind and cherry blossom petals.

The treatment draws on ukiyo-e and vintage posters: bold flat areas, pronounced black outlines, aged paper, Mount Fuji and swirling clouds in the background. Around the young pirate, the crew’s “WANTED” posters fly in the wind, while his elastic fist loosens in a gesture characteristic of the Gomu Gomu no Mi. The vertical cartouche proclaims 海賊王 (the Pirate King) and incorporates the signature メドサン.

The work celebrates the very spirit of One Piece: freedom, friendship, and the pursuit of a dream bigger than oneself. Luffy, with a radiant smile facing the wind, embodies this unruly youth who set out to conquer the horizon — a global icon raised to the rank of a classical print.
