Description from the seller
THE BLUE POOL is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work depicts a landscaped courtyard organized around a narrow, elongated pool that draws the eye toward the architecture in the background. A dark door, slightly elevated on several steps, acts as a vanishing point, while trees, shrubs and flowering pots surround the water and turn the space into a lush, luminous refuge.
The composition is built with a very pronounced frontal perspective. The pool occupies much of the foreground and functions as a blue corridor that runs through the scene. On its surface appear yellow, green and turquoise reflections, along with shapes resembling water lilies, providing rhythm and movement to the water. The vegetation forms a natural arch in the upper area and frames the house with a sense of intimacy.
The palette combines intense blues, bright acid greens, luminous yellows, pinks and coral reds. Color is used freely and emotionally, moving away from a strictly naturalistic representation. The brushwork is broad, visible and spontaneous, with dark outlines that structure the plants, branches and architectural elements. The chromatic strength and formal simplification show affinities with Matisse and André Derain’s Fauvism, while the pool, the architectural perspective and the garden’s brightness evoke certain echoes of David Hockney. It can also be related to the Mediterranean garden tradition and to contemporary painting of domestic spaces open to nature.
The blue pool conveys freshness, vitality and a pleasant sense of escape. It is especially attractive to collectors interested in pools, tropical gardens, Mediterranean patios, architecture, colorful landscapes, figurative contemporary art and Fauvist-inspired painting.
