Nicola Carrino (Taranto, 1932 – Rome, 2018) was an Italian sculptor and painter, among the leading figures of abstract art and contemporary sculpture in the twentieth century. After starting in painting, he was among the founders of Gruppo 1, a movement promoting artistic research based on geometric forms, rationality, and industrial materials. He is famous for his large modular sculptures in iron and steel, designed to engage with urban space and the landscape. His works are exhibited in major museums and public spaces in Italy and abroad, and Carrino is considered one of the major innovators of Italian contemporary sculpture.
Description
Ink on paper, dimensions 77.5 x 57 cm for the work alone, plus 1 cm per side with the frame included as a courtesy, the piece in excellent condition dating from 1983, titled Eclissi, signed on the front, dated and signed on the back. The work comes from the artist's studio and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from the gallery Il Fioretto in Padua.
