Carlos Cruz-Diez: "Untitled" 2006
Colour serigraph on paper, printed and published by Atelier Edition Fanal, Basel, in 2006.
Cruz-Diez treated colour as an event rather than as a property of an object. His work is not a composition to be read but a situation in which colour is produced in the eye of the viewer and shifts with the angle of view and the light in the room — an approach he pursued from the late 1950s onward through the Physichromie, Couleur Additive and Induction Chromatique series.
Hand-signed in pencil by the artist.
Image 17 × 17 cm. Framed under passe-partout behind acrylic glass, frame 31 × 22 × 3 cm — light and stable, so the work ships safely without the risk that comes with glass.
Condition: good used condition. Sold as shown in the photographs.

Carlos Cruz-Diez (1923–2019) was born in Caracas and worked in Paris from 1960 until his death. Trained at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas in Caracas, where he later taught, he became — alongside Jesús Rafael Soto and Julio Le Parc — one of the central figures of kinetic art. His work is held by the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Tate Modern in London, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Caracas, and his chromatic interventions in architecture range from the floors of Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía to installations in Paris, Miami and Panama City.
Atelier Edition Fanal in Basel has published editions and multiples by artists of concrete, constructive and kinetic art — among them Cruz-Diez, Julio Le Parc and Klaus Staudt — and worked directly with Cruz-Diez on his printed and chromographic editions.
