Description from the seller
David Law
Phot Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on the gaze, presence and perception of image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle game of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, drawn to the singular aesthetic of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relation to illusion and projection.
New Series – Fragment of Memory - Brick Icons
Built from colorful LEGO-style bricks, these portraits transform great icons of music and cinema into images close to pixel art. Between childhood nostalgia and popular culture, a few hundred bricks are enough to revive instantly recognizable faces;.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated rear mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, great longevity, color stability and a modern, contemporary appearance.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops an authorial and musical project including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. As a singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
