GonçaloMAR BIO
The appeal was constant; it was only a matter of time before MAR's interpretation of the environment around him as an artist would be painted.
At age 12 he was already drawing figures from his imagination with chalk on the pavement.
Over the years his professional choice was natural. During his academy studies—he graduated in Fashion Design at F.A.L.—he applied to a Portuguese animation studio, “Magic Toons,” as an illustrator.
It was around 1998 that he had his first experience with graffiti.
Since then, moved by his artistic convictions, MAR has pursued constant evolution together with the graffiti movement, which is evolving globally. He has also worked with various national fashion brands. Known for his distinctive characters, he stands out for the way he builds his characters and atmospheres, giving them lines and shapes that make them unique.

- MAR is one of Portugal's first professional graffiti artists after quitting his job as a fashion designer for the Portuguese brand Station.
- You can see MAR's artwork in 28 different countries around the world.
- Since 2002 MAR has participated in 42 exhibitions in art galleries and museums and produced 37 graffiti street art group exhibitions.

During his artistic path he befriended and painted on walls alongside giants of graffiti and world street art such as Sainer, C215, Robert Proch, Os Gemeos, Risk, Bellin, Magrela, Case and Tasso from the Maclaim Crew, among many other famous names in the international graffiti scene.

Being part of two of the most active and futuristic crews in Portugal: Tunders Crew and Arm Collective, this one with Ram only.

Since 2015, until today, the artist has created installations, murals and canvases which are acquired by galleries and collectors all around the world and created countless graffiti commissions for brands and companies of all kinds.

Recently recognized by the local authority that saw him grow as an artist, with the Medal of Cultural Merit.
Nowadays, his artistic goal involves exploring new urban spaces that graffiti can still offer.
