In this auction we present an exemplar of exquisitely modern and technologically chic charm, belonging to one of the most iconic and bold collections of the Hamburg house: the Montblanc StarWalker Black Mystery Fountain Pen.
The design of this writing instrument breaks with classical norms thanks to an innovative surface. The body is adorned with an intricate geometric pattern laser-engraved, creating a play of lines and rectangles with a strong visual and tactile impact. This contemporary finish is enhanced by the contrast with platinum-plated, mirror-polished accents present on the aerodynamically profiled clip and on the smooth grip section. To seal the identity of the StarWalker line, one finds the famous transparent dome on the top, inside which the Montblanc white star emblem floats magically.
The beating heart of this fountain pen is its excellent writing assembly: by unscrewing the cap, a beautiful 14-karat solid gold nib (Au585) is revealed. To maintain a perfect chromatic harmony with the pen’s finishes, the nib has undergone rhodium plating, giving it an elegant silvery tone, and it is finely engraved with the Montblanc logo. The filling system is cartridge-based.
Regarding its condition, the item presents in generally good condition but requires an important cosmetic clarification. The body, grip, and the precious 14K gold nib are in excellent condition and perfectly ready for use. However, as clearly documented in the last three close-up photographs, the cap shows a damage. A lesion/chip is visible in the black resin positioned to the side, right near where the clip attaches. This defect is purely cosmetic and does not in any way compromise the cap’s screw closure or the pen’s perfect mechanical functionality for writing.
