David Law
Photographer-artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops a body of work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first made himself known through a series devoted to shop-window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later, intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relation to illusion and projection.
New series – Swarms
This series explores the invisible link that unites beings, where each face is born from a multitude of individual presences. Composed of thousands of silhouettes in motion, these works evoke the strength of the collective and the uniqueness of each destiny. Forms gather, disperse and transform, drawing a poetic cartography of humanity. Between matter and movement, these compositions invite contemplation of our belonging to a larger whole than ourselves.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with an integrated rear mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with a soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term resistance, color stability and a modern, contemporary appearance.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the exclusive photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops authorial and musician work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
