Parker Oversize Lockdown Vacumatic fountain pen in Grey Pearl laminated celluloid with a 14K gold nib and chrome-plated trim, made in Canada in 1935 (date code 35), 13.6 cm long and 1.5 cm in diameter, in good used condition and in working order with a serviced Vacumatic filling system.
Description from the seller
Parker Vacumatic Oversize fountain pen in Grey Pearl laminated celluloid, manufactured in Canada and bearing the barrel date code “35”, corresponding to the third quarter of 1935 under Parker’s early dating system.
This is the highly desirable first-generation Oversize Lockdown Vacumatic, produced during the earliest years of Parker's revolutionary Vacumatic series. With its generous proportions, approximately 13.5 cm in length and around 1.5 cm at its widest point, it displays the distinctive cigar-shaped profile that defines the early Oversize models and sets them apart from the more common standard-size Vacumatics.
Crafted from Grey Pearl laminated celluloid, the pen exhibits particularly attractive barrel transparency, allowing the layered structure and ink chamber to remain clearly visible. This level of transparency is increasingly uncommon on examples approaching ninety years of age and is one of the most appreciated characteristics among Vacumatic collectors.
The pen retains its original two-tone Parker 14K gold nib and the characteristic Lockdown Vacumatic filling mechanism, the first version of Parker's celebrated diaphragm filling system.
The filling system has been serviced, with a new Vacumatic diaphragm installed. It fills correctly and writes beautifully, making the pen fully functional while preserving its original operating system.
The barrel imprint remains clearly legible and includes:
PARKER VACUMATIC - MADE IN CANADA - Date code 35
Blind cap retaining the original "REG. No. 784404" engraving.
The pen is presented in good vintage condition, displaying only minor signs of age and careful use together with light age-related marks consistent with a writing instrument of this period. The excellent preservation of the laminated celluloid and its remarkable transparency contribute significantly to the visual appeal of this example. Please examine the photographs carefully.
Also included is a period Parker cardboard box. Although it is not the original presentation box supplied with the Oversize model, it is believed to be contemporary with the pen and represents the type of practical retail box commonly supplied by Parker dealers and stationers during the period.
