Description from the seller
Antoine Stevens (1987)
SANA
2025
Original unique work created in acrylic on canvas.
Born in 1987 in the north of France, Antoine Stevens discovers graffiti during his adolescence before developing studio work from 2005. His pictorial universe blends the energy of urban art with the delicacy of the classical portrait, with particular attention paid to the representation of the feminine. His work is today exhibited in France as well as internationally, notably in Luxembourg, London, Monaco and Singapore.
With "Sana", Antoine signs a portrait of great elegance where the power of the gaze gives way to a contemplative and serene expression. The model’s profile stands out against a deep black background, while drips, transparencies and layers of material bring a contemporary dimension to a composition inspired by classical painting.
The textures of the hair, the subtle handling of light on the skin, and the broad traditional jewelry create a dialogue between modernity and cultural heritage. The deliberate drips, characteristic of the artist’s work, intensify the emotion and give the work a striking presence.
This canvas perfectly illustrates Antoine Stevens’ pictorial approach, at the crossroads of street art and contemporary figurative portrait.
