Description from the seller
Original unique work created in acrylic on canvas.
Born in 1987 in the north of France, Antoine Stevens discovered graffiti in his adolescence before developing a studio painting practice from 2005. His universe sits at the crossroads of street art and contemporary figurative portraiture. His work is immediately recognizable by the fusion of a realistic mastery of the face with a free gesture inspired by urban art, blending drips, layers of material, and graphic interventions. Today, his works are presented in several galleries in France and internationally.
With Cleo, Antoine Stevens offers a contemporary portrait of great intensity. The face seems to emerge from the canvas through a subtle play of transparencies, projections, and colored veils. The shades of blue, pink, ochre, and black blend harmoniously to create an atmosphere that is both soft and vibrant.
The gaze, particularly expressive, immediately draws attention while certain parts of the portrait deliberately dissolve into the material. This constant tension between drawing precision and freedom of gesture is one of the artist's most emblematic signatures. Between abstraction and figurative, Cleo offers a sensitive reading where emotion takes precedence over representation.
