David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary re-reading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work is based on a mosaic construction made of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close, it unveils a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the represented subject. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. An in-depth work is carried out on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent way.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artists proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with an integrated rear mount. Printing on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with UV- and moisture-resistant soft lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a writer-performer’s career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A guitarist and vocalist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
