David Law
Artist Photographer – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in the urban space. He first made himself known through a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle game of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction composed of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it reveals a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts like a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject depicted. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. Thorough work is carried out on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent way.
Edition & Manufacture
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting system. Printing on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with UV- and humidity-resistant soft lamination, ensuring excellent durability, great longevity, color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Background
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a body of work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
