Artist biography: Hoang Anh.
Born in 1984 in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam, lives and works in Hanoi.
Originating from Thanh Hoa province, about 150 km south of Hanoi, Hoang Anh belongs to that pivotal generation of Vietnamese artists (the 8x generation) who combine cultural heritage and contemporary abstraction. A graduate of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, he has established himself on Hanoi’s art scene with a bold approach to matter and color.

Style and Artistic Approach
Hoang Anh's work is characterized by an intense exploration of texture and movement. Although he explores varied themes such as landscapes, nature, and the feminine figure, it is in abstraction that he reveals his full expressive power:
• The energy of gesture: A practitioner of oil painting and acrylic, he frequently uses a palette knife to apply color in vigorous horizontal strokes. This gesture creates a almost musical rhythm across the canvas.
• Chromatic contrasts: His work plays on the contrast between neutral backgrounds (urban grays, textured whites) and bursts of primary colors — fiery reds, sunny yellows, and deep blues — that seem to spring from the surface.
