On February 16, 1954, Marilyn Monroe performed before 100,000 American soldiers in North Korea. It was her unforgettable troop-entertainment tour after the ceasefire in the Korean War. The cold was biting, the stage makeshift, yet Monroe’s radiant energy filled every corner of the military bases she visited. “I wanted to make them smile, even if only for a moment,” she said, expressing the mood that made her performances legendary.
