Description from the seller

LA SILLA DE ORO is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work represents a luminous and exuberant interior where a golden wicker chair becomes the visual axis of the composition. Surrounded by large green plants and placed in front of blue doors that are open, the chair introduces an almost human presence inside a domestic space full of color, light, and serenity.

The composition is organized through a succession of planes that lead the eye from the foreground to the back of the room. The chair, rendered in yellows, ochres, and oranges, contrasts with the deep pink wall and with the blue shutters framing the entrance. Beyond, a room bathed in yellow light unfolds, decorated with plants, an oriental rug, and a large window that reinforces the sense of depth. The absence of figures allows objects and architecture to build, on their own, a narrative of waiting, rest, and everyday life.

Color treatment is one of the main attractions of the work. Ernest García combines reds, cobalt blues, solar yellows, deep greens, and purples through direct contrasts that bring energy and balance. The brushstroke is broad, visible, and spontaneous, especially in the vegetation and in the architectural surfaces. The color does not seek to reproduce reality literally, but to express the warm, vital atmosphere of the interior.

The painting shows affinities with Fauvism, especially with Henri Matisse, for the chromatic freedom, the integration of plants and textiles, and the transformation of the domestic space into a decorative construction. Echoes of Pierre Bonnard can also be seen in the intimacy of the interior and in the way different rooms are linked through open doors, light, and color. The empty chair also recalls the pictorial tradition in which everyday objects act as indirect portraits of their inhabitants.

More than representing a piece of furniture, La silla de oro offers a reflection on presence within absence. The chair seems to wait for someone, while the open doors invite the viewer to mentally stroll through the house and imagine the life that continues beyond the frame. The abundant vegetation turns the interior into a small habitable garden, reinforcing the sense of refuge, freshness, and well-being.

La silla de oro is especially attractive to collectors interested in contemporary figurative painting, Mediterranean interiors, wicker chairs, vintage furniture, interior design, tropical plants, blue doors, domestic architecture, decorative art, Fauvism, Post-Impressionism, Henri Matisse, Pierre Bonnard, colorful interiors, and contemporary luminous-atmosphere painting.
