Description from the seller
LA CHAIR AND THE 3 PEARS is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work features a red wooden chair on which a plate with three pears rests, transforming a everyday motif into a composition with strong graphic clarity and powerful chromatic impact. The scene blends still life, furniture, and vegetal decoration within a direct, modern, and recognizable language.
The composition is organized around the chair, which occupies the center of the canvas and functions at the same time as object, pedestal, and visual structure. On the seat, the three pears — two green and one yellow — form a small still life of great balance. The background, decorated with large monstera leaves, provides rhythm and exuberance, while the blue floor introduces depth through a dark geometric shadow.
Color is the main expressive driver of the work. The orange-red chair contrasts with the intense greens of the leaves and the saturated blue of the floor. The yellow pear, placed between the two greens, acts as a focal point and reinforces the symmetry of the whole. The bold black outlines, wide and well defined, contribute to a graphic aesthetic close to contemporary illustration and pop painting, without losing the hand-made character of the brushstroke.
The simplification of forms and the use of flat colors establish affinities with Fauvism, Pop Art, and certain compositions by Henri Matisse, especially in the relationship between ordinary object, vegetal pattern, and chromatic freedom. There is also an echo of the modern still life tradition, where fruits and furniture cease to be secondary elements and become absolute protagonists of the image.
Beyond its simple appearance, La silla y las tres peras plays with transforming a seat into a pictorial support. The empty chair suggests presence and absence, while the fruits introduce ideas of abundance, home, and daily life. The work conveys joy, balance, and a strong decorative sense, turning a minimal scene into a memorable image.
La silla y las 3 peras is especially appealing to collectors interested in contemporary figurative painting, modern still lifes, pears in art, wooden chairs, vintage furniture, monstera, tropical plants, pop art, Fauvism, Henri Matisse, colorful painting, interior design, decorative art, and contemporary graphic compositions.
