Description from the seller
LA BAÑERA ROSA is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work represents an intimate bathroom opened toward the sea, where a freestanding pink bathtub occupies the center of the composition facing a large window with shutters opened. The sea horizon, visible from inside, turns the everyday scene into an image of rest, freedom, and contemplation.
The composition is organized through a frontal perspective that directs the gaze outward. The bathtub functions as the visual axis and establishes a gentle curve against the vertical geometry of the window. The opened leaves frame the landscape as if it were a painting within the painting itself, while the line of the sea introduces depth and a sense of breadth that contrasts with the compact character of the room.
Ernest García uses a delicate and luminous palette, dominated by dusty pinks, violets, turquoise greens, blues, and yellow reflections. The warm tones of the walls and floor dialogue with the freshness of the seascape, creating a balanced and enveloping atmosphere. The pink bathtub, supported on ornate legs, brings a vintage and elegant air, while the visible brushstrokes preserve the spontaneity and texture of contemporary painting.
The sea is resolved with horizontal strokes of blue, green, and white that suggest the movement of the waves and the reflections of light. In front of this changing surface, the interior is constructed with broader brushstrokes and simplified color blocks. The absence of human figures intensifies the sense of quiet and allows the scene to be imagined as a private refuge facing the Mediterranean.
The work shows affinities with Fauvism and Post-Impressionism through its chromatic freedom and the use of color as an emotion generator. Echoes of Henri Matisse can also be perceived in the relationship between interior and open window, as well as of Pierre Bonnard in the intimacy of domestic space and the sensory atmosphere of the bathroom. The marine view also introduces a sensitivity close to the tradition of Mediterranean painting and holiday interiors.
Beyond representing a room, La bañera rosa evokes well-being, disconnection, and the pleasure of inhabiting a space open to the landscape. The window turns the bath into a lookout, while the tub seems to invite one to stop time and contemplate the light on the water. The work conveys serenity, romanticism, and an elegant sense of escape by the sea.
La bañera rosa is especially attractive to collectors interested in contemporary figurative painting, vintage bathtubs, sea-view bathrooms, Mediterranean interiors, open windows, marine landscapes, coastal architecture, pink decor, colorful art, Fauvism, Post-Impressionism, Henri Matisse, Pierre Bonnard, interior design, and Spanish contemporary painting.
