Description from the seller
EL LORO is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work presents a powerful chromatic interior scene in which a white parrot rests calmly on an elegant yellow armchair. Around it, the domestic space is transformed into a bright, vibrant stage, articulated by strong contrasts between reds, yellows, and blues, turning the room into an almost theatrical image.
The composition centers on three main elements: the bird, the chair, and the vase with flowers. The parrot, located at the visual center of the piece, introduces an exotic and serene presence, while the chair's classical lines bring a refined and decorative air. On the right, a small table holds a transparent vase with large orange flowers and elongated leaves, whose vegetal dynamism balances the animal’s stillness. In the background, an open blue door or window suggests continuity with the exterior and adds spatial depth to the scene.
Color plays a leading role. The blazing red of the walls and floor envelops the composition with warm, intense energy, while the blue of the carpentry creates a cool, structuring counterpoint. The yellow of the chair illuminates the center of the painting and reinforces the sense of tropical exuberance. The parrot’s white plumage, resolved with loose strokes of blues, grays, and whites, stands out with great elegance against this color-saturated environment.
The brushwork is free, visible, and expressive, an essential characteristic of Ernest García’s pictorial language. Forms are simplified without losing legibility, and the scene is built from a decorative and emotional sensitivity, where each object seems to have its own life. This formal freedom places the work in affinity with Fauvism, especially for its exaltation of pure color, and also with certain echoes of Henri Matisse and Post-Impressionism, both for the ornamental treatment of the interior and for the synthesis of forms and the intimate atmosphere.
Beyond its figurative character, El loro speaks of visual pleasure, of the coexistence of the domestic and the exotic, and of painting’s ability to turn a simple scene into a rich and evocative sensory experience. The bird, silent and majestic, introduces a note of poetic strangeness that enriches the composition and brings it closer to a universe of everyday fantasy.
The parrot will be especially attractive to collectors interested in contemporary figurative painting, colorful interiors, exotic birds, parrots, tropical decoration, Fauvist art, Post-Impressionism, Henri Matisse, animals in painting, domestic scenes, expressive color, Spanish contemporary art, and large-format decorative painting.
