Jean-Marie Guiny, born in Versailles in 1954 and died in 2010, is a French painter-engraver renowned for his animal-focused work dedicated to horses and bulls. A rider for thirteen years and a bullfighting enthusiast, he traveled extensively in Spain, Portugal, and in the Camargue to feed his inspiration. Trained in copper engraving from 1974, he worked mainly in drypoint and aquatint, a technique he placed at the heart of his engraved oeuvre, often enhanced with warm tones applied by hand.
