Description from the seller
André Masson (1896-1987).
"Lea".
Lithograph, 1972.
Hand-signed and numbered by the artist. 90 copies.
55 x 43.5 cm.
From the portfolio "Femmes", 1972. Die-cut stamp of the Prandi Library (Reggio Emilia, Italy).
A beautiful work by the Surrealist painter. The female figure is one of the central, obsessive, and polyphonic themes in the work of the French Surrealist artist André Masson. Throughout his career, the female representation was not limited to a passive object of desire, but rather personified the forces of nature, convulsive eroticism, myth and metamorphosis.
